Director’s Note

Hello Parents,

A celebration of everything 100 was a highlight last week while Valentines Day brought smiles and special treats and secret admirers to the spotlight this week.

Our celebration of 100th Day was a tremendous success and all our students from 3 year old to Gr.3 had an absolutely marvelous time participating in the various 100 Day stations. Our fourth grade student leaders did a brilliant job of assisting our younger students through the various events and activities. We extend a tremendous “Thank You” to our 100th Day Committee Jennifer Schedlbauer and Sri Erma Wati, as well our classroom teachers and all our teacher assistants for helping to make our 100 Day celebration such a great experience for our students.

Valentine’s Day was celebrated in fine style at PRIS and we have our Student Council to thank for that. Council members worked throughout the week selling cards with kisses, cards with bookmarks and cards with cookies and made deliveries on Thursday. Kudos to our Student Council members on a job well done and for helping to spread joy and happiness!

On the social/emotional wellness scene we have been busy as well.  Last week, Doreen Biehle our Chevron EAP Counselor, facilitated a workshop entitled “Lessons in Resilience” with our MS students. Advocacy and Resiliency are valuable skills and will be themes within our counseling strand in coming months as some students prepare for transitions to new and or bigger schools.  This week our in-house duo of Counselors in training Cheryl Fullerton and Julia Sheridan hosted a “Parenting Strategies” conversation, which was well received by those in attendance. Thank you to Doreen, Cheryl and Julia for their work in preparing and presenting these valuable personal wellness sessions.

Did you know that Thursday, February 21st, the whole world is recognizing International Mother Tongue Day? Did you know that the students of PRIS represent close to 20 nationalities and as a community we represent numerous different languages? Given our global connections and diversity of mother tongues how can we not celebrate International Mother Tongue Day? We plan to incorporate some special events into next week to raise awareness and value the importance of mother tongue languages.

Best wishes for a terrific weekend and thank you for your continued support of our fabulous school community

Regards,

Seamus
